Overhead New Hanger

The Old Dominion Squadron, an all-volunteer organization of dedicated aviation enthusiasts, is located in the Tidewater Region of Virginia. The Squadron was chartered in 1983 by the Cofederate Air Force (now Commemorative Air Force), a non-profit corporation with headquarters in Midland, Texas. Our mission is the restoration, maintenance, and display of flyable historic aircraft from World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The Next Step - a Flying Museum

The Old Dominion Squadron is establishing a Flying Museum. This unique facility will bring to Hampton Roads one of the few flying museums in the country. Our museum will be dedicated to the role of Military Aircraft and the people who built, flew, and maintained them.

The Flying Museum Concept

The Old Dominion Squadron Flying Museum will consist of:

A Museum display area
A library-theater
Dedicated hangars for the display, restoration, and maintenance of multiple aircraft
Outdoor aircraft exhibit areas
A gift shop

Its establishment will give visitors an opportunity to view the Squadron’s unique assets on a year-round basis. Our aircraft, the principal items on display, will continue to be maintained as operational airplanes.

The two pictures above show some of the recent additions to our Museum. In the picture to the left shows some of the recently donated flags plus some of the various award banners we have received over the years. The picture on the right shows one of several display cases donated by Col Barrett (thank you Buck). Inside the display case are several aircraft models donated by Col. Lucas (thank you Ed). To read more about the display cases and models, please read the April 2011 "Taildragger".
